The program will cover seizure terminology, classification, causes and treatments of seizures, epileptic syndromes, status epilepticus, non epileptic seizures and seizure first aid. Dr. Evan Fertig, co-director of Jersey City Medical Center-Northeast Regional Epilepsy Group will be a Reviewer for Harvard Medical School on-line Continuing Medical Education (CME) course: Genetics: Myoclonic Epilepsy of Infancy.
This case follows a 20-month-old girl with febrile and afebrile seizures. Her clinical presentation and diagnostic workup is most consistent with Severe Myoclonic Epilepsy of Infancy (SMEI), also known as Dravet syndrome.
