Infantile spasms
• These are seizures that happen in very young children (3 to 12 months of age)
• They consist of brief stiffening or jerking.
• They happen as part of a type of epilepsy called “West syndrome” or “infantile spasms”
• It is very important to diagnose them quickly because if not treated, they could lead to mental impairments and intractable seizures (seizures that will not be possible to control)
