Anxiety

What are the signs of anxiety to look out for?

• Free floating nervousness and feelings of being unsettled most of the day (in epilepsy this sometimes is tied in with feeling anxious about when and if a seizure will come on)
• Poor sleep
• Poor concentration
• Rapid heart rate
• Jitteriness
• Feeling choked up and having trouble breathing
• Poor appetite

What to do about it?

If you recognize any of these signs in yourself or in someone you know, you should discuss it with your doctor or nurse.  Your doctor may decide that you need to be referred to a specialist (either a psychiatrist and/or psychologist) to talk about this some more and possibly to start treatment.
