Safety measures
• The person with a VNS must not be exposed to a treatment used for pain and wound healing that uses deep heat. This is called “diathermy.”
• MRIs: not all MRIs can be used with the VNS. Only the ones with a head coil (not a body coil) can be used since the heat from the MRI could cause severe damage. If an MRI is needed, a consultation with your neurologist is warranted.
