How is the VNS implanted?
• The VNS is a small device that carries a battery. It is implanted through the skin of the chest and wires are placed in the neck wrapping around the vagus nerve (a nerve in the neck that carries electrical impulses to the brain).
• The surgery last approximately an hour and can be done with general or local anesthesia
