Epilepsy Information

Parietal lobe epilepsy

• Parietal seizures are relatively rare
• The parietal lobe controls feelings of touch.  As a result, parietal lobe seizures can cause sensory symptoms like tingling or numbness on one side of the body
• Seizures that begin the parietal lobe may spread rapidly to other regions of the brain, mimicking the signs and symptoms of other forms of partial epilepsy
• Parietal seizures can happen either during the day or night, and there is no particular trigger.
• Surgery is an option, but results are similar to those of frontal lobe epilepsy.
