Epilepsy and Complementary and Alternative (natural) medicine. Feature article
Complementary and alternative medicine, known as CAM for short, is a term that refers to various healthcare approaches developed outside the Western or “conventional” medicine. These treatments are known by other names as well, including holistic medicine, integrative medicine, naturopathic medicine, etc.
Co-director of the Epilepsy Program of the Northeast Regional Epilepsy Group in Hackensack University Medical Center and of the NEREG International Program, Enrique Feoli, M.D sat down to talk about complementary and alternative medicines (CAM) in epilepsy. He was interviewed by Sloka Iyengar, Ph.D., an epilepsy researcher at the Nathan Kline Institute, New York who has a strong interest in epilepsy education and advocacy.

Epilepsy Survey Results: Have you ever attended an epilepsy walk/run, event or fundraiser? |
|
Epilepsy can present challenges to independence and social activities. Friends, family and strangers may know little about epilepsy and it can feel hard to connect with some of them at times. Being part of an epilepsy community event is an excellent way to bond and join forces with many others who understand and share similar experiences. There are a whole bunch of ways to become part of the epilepsy community and become active.
